My passion is helping every bride feel seen, supported and celebrated, whether I am perfecting the fit of her gown or creating something from scratch.

I have loved weddings for as long as I can remember. I grew up beside my mother, surrounded by wedding dresses, brides, cakes, flowers, event décor and the quiet excitement of preparing a bride for one of the most beautiful, emotional and unforgettable moments of her life.

By the age of 13, I was already helping with wedding cakes, event spaces, gown fittings, packing dresses and watching brides step into gowns that carried so much emotion. That world shaped me.

Today, as a fashion designer and seamstress, my passion is to help brides feel comfortable, confident, feminine and beautifully themselves — whether through the perfect bridal fit or a dress made completely from scratch.

Your appointment matters

Appointments are limited, especially during bridal and prom season. Your appointment is confirmed once your appointment time has been agreed and your booking fee has been paid.

A £25 booking fee is required to secure all appointments. This fee is deducted from your final service cost when you proceed. Booking fees are non-refundable for missed appointments or cancellations made with less than 72 hours’ notice.

About Us

Nkem Bridal Atelier is a Bristol-based bridal and occasionwear studio created by Nkem, a fashion designer and seamstress with a background in bridal, dressmaking and special occasion garments.

My work is rooted in care, detail and fit. I understand that a wedding dress is not just an item of clothing. It is part of a transition, a memory, a statement and a moment where all eyes are on the bride. When the fit is right, the shape is right and the style feels like you, you can relax into the day and feel beautiful, confident and fully present.

My work is to listen, guide, shape and refine — with patience, honesty and attention to detail.

What to bring to your fitting

Please come prepared for your fitting. The right shoes, underwear and accessories help me shape the dress accurately and give you the best possible result.

For bridal fittings

  • Your wedding dress
  • Your wedding shoes, or shoes with the same heel height
  • The bra, underwear, shapewear or corset you plan to wear
  • Any veil, overskirt, belt or accessories you want to check with the dress
  • One trusted guest only
  • No children are permitted at fittings or consultations

For prom, bridesmaid and occasionwear fittings

  • Your dress or outfit
  • The shoes you plan to wear, especially if the hem needs adjusting
  • Your chosen underwear or shapewear
  • Any accessories that affect the look or fit
  • Your event date, so timing can be planned properly
  • One trusted guest only. No children are permitted.

Booking starts with a simple enquiry through the appointment form. You do not need to explain every detail of the dress straight away — the garment will be discussed properly during your fitting or consultation.

Choose an alteration fitting if you already have the dress and need it adjusted. Choose a bespoke consultation if you want a dress designed and made from scratch, or if your existing dress needs major redesign work.
